Have a conversation with your body…
It can be quite hard to define Kinesiology without directly experiencing it, some people talk about muscle testing, some about talking to the body. Try answering this:
If you had a tool that allowed you to communicate directly with the unconscious, how many things could you do with it?
You might as well ask ‘how many things can you do with a computer?’
Here’s a video about PKP Kinesiology featuring my teachers Denise Gurney and Dr Bruce Dewe:
As you start to answer this question you may also begin to realise why the question ‘what is Kinesiology?’ is such a hard one to answer. Some people describe Kinesiology as a total healthcare system, but is much more than this. Healthcare implies that we are only concerned with ‘health’. We might think of this as the therapeutic approach. We can also say that therapy is the process of bringing someone up to a ‘normal’ level of performance, or back to a normal state.
But why should we stop at normal?
This is where Kinesiology (like NLP) takes a leap. It can also be used for generative change, the area of coaching and performance enhancement. We can think of coaching taking off where therapy finishes; going from a state or normal or average performance, to levels of extra-ordinary or high performance.
A better question might be ‘what do we use kinesiology for?’
This now becomes much simpler to answer, we have two main reasons:
1: To release you from limiting actions, beliefs and thoughts.
2: Developing resources for the future.
How does this benefit you?
When you are released from the limits you now have you will feel better (and that includes no longer being burdened with the bad feelings associated with your current stressors), you will also notice an improved level of performance and satisfaction in your life, not just in the areas that we focus on.
What to expect during a session
One way that we can describe the process we go through in our sessions is to liken it to a 100m hurdle race. The purpose of kinesiology is to find out what the unconscious hurdles are, AND provide a method for either going over them or moving them out of the way entirely.
What some people have told us after hearing this analogy, is that it sounds like Kinesiology provides a unique opportunity to find out and work with those things that stop us achieving our goals. One of our clients once told us that he believes that Kinesiology is the missing link in the goal setting and achieving process.
We use normal goal setting processes to gain specificity and find the direction to take, then we use Kinesiology to make sure that we have unconscious as well as conscious agreement and the resources to get what we want.
Don’t take our word for it, read what one of our clients sent us:
“I came to see George when I was in the middle of a break up with my long term partner. I wanted to move on and feel good about the future, as well as let go of the old habits and feelings that I was struggling with. After only 2 sessions I felt much better and was looking forward to each day. What surprised me more was that everything at work also improved.
I must say that I was sceptical at first, and I can’t pretend that I understand how Kinesiology works, only that it does, and quickly. I can compare my experiences to having seen a counsellor, and there is almost no comparison worth making; I got more benefit from two sessions with George than from 20 counselling sessions. I happily recommend this to anyone who is experiencing a lot of change.”
